self love - the true foundation of business success
Things that kept me up at night as a service business owner
Why is it that no amount of massage, bubble baths, workouts or meditations help sometimes when we are in the thick of it as Business owners.
Self-Love Beyond Bubble Baths
Today, I want to share a bit of a personal journey that led me to a groundbreaking realization, one that had been stirring in me for years: self-love isn't just about indulging in bubble baths and spa days. It's about something much deeper and more transformative, especially in the realm of business.
So, picture this: I'm cruising along in my business, feeling pretty confident and accomplished in my leadership and business direction. But then, seemingly out of nowhere, a curveball hits. Key people in my trusted business circle create a disfunction and disharmony not only within my business, but within me. Sound familiar? Yeah, it's a scenario many of us have faced at some point.
At first, I was baffled. How could this happen? How could they do this? How will I get through this? How can I prevent this ever happening again. But as I took a step back and reflected, I realized the problem wasn't just with them—it was with me. My lack of self-love had created a breeding ground for entitlement and chaos.
See, I'd always equated self-love with being nice, accommodating, and people-pleasing. But in reality, true self-love is about having boundaries, making decisions from a place of self-confidence, and trusting yourself implicitly.
Let's break it down:
Boundaries: When you truly love yourself, you recognize your worth and set boundaries accordingly. You don't let others walk all over you or dictate your worth. You establish clear lines that protect your time, energy, and resources.
Self-Confidence: Self-love breeds confidence. When you love and accept yourself fully, you trust in your abilities and instincts. You're not swayed by external validation or criticism because you know your worth comes from within.
Self-Trust: Ah, the holy grail of self-love. Trusting yourself means making decisions rooted in your own values and intuition. You don't second-guess every move or seek constant approval from others. You trust that you know what's best for you and your business.
Now, back to my saga of betrayal and upheaval. In hindsight, I realized I'd been lacking in all three areas. I'd allowed these people ton overstep boundaries, I'd doubted my own worth and capabilities, and I'd ignored my intuition when warning signs flashed.
But here's the silver lining: this experience was a wake-up call. It forced me to confront my own shortcomings and prioritize self-love in a whole new way. I started setting clearer boundaries, trusting my instincts, and standing firm in my worth.
And you know what? It made all the difference. As I cultivated a deeper sense of self-love, I noticed a shift in my business. I attracted more aligned clients, navigated challenges with grace, and reclaimed my power in ways I never thought possible.
So, to all my fellow entrepreneurs out there, I leave you with this: Don't underestimate the power of self-love in business. It's not just a fluffy, feel-good concept—it's the secret sauce that underpins true success. So, go ahead, indulge in those bubble baths if you must, but remember: real self-love starts from within….
